The electrical side of a mini-split includes the compressor, outdoor fan, reversing valve solenoid (if applicable), capacitor, and control board. We test each component. We use a multimeter to measure voltage at critical points. We use a dedicated capacitor tester to assess capacitor health—a failing capacitor shows no symptoms until it suddenly fails and the system stops working.
We also test the wireless remote control link—can the remote communicate with the indoor unit? Does it respond immediately to button presses? We verify that the control board is properly activating components. We test the outdoor fan to confirm it's spinning freely and pulling air properly. We also verify the lines are properly sloped and supported so they don't sag or kink, which would restrict refrigerant flow.
The condensate system is equally important. The indoor unit produces water during operation—that water must drain through the condensate line to the outdoors or to an interior floor drain.
