Check your thermostat setting, your filter and your breaker first, then call us. Most no-heat calls come down to a dead ignitor, a dirty flame sensor, a tripped limit switch or a thermostat fault, and all four are repairable. Start with furnace repair.

A clogged filter, leaking ductwork or general component wear costs you money all winter without ever tripping an alarm. A tune-up with a combustion analysis usually finds it, and a maintenance plan keeps it from coming back.

Age and repair scope decide it. A minor repair on a newer furnace is worth doing; a major repair on an aging one usually is not. We will do the math with you on your specific system before you spend anything, and if replacement wins we handle the installation.

Once a year, in the fall before you start relying on it. An annual tune-up cleans the burners and flame sensor, verifies gas pressure and airflow, and inspects the heat exchanger. It is the cheapest furnace work you will pay for, because it is the visit that prevents the emergency one.

A dead ignitor is the most common, especially on older furnaces. After that comes a dirty flame sensor that shuts the system down seconds after ignition, a tripped limit switch, a failed blower motor, a thermostat fault, or a gas supply problem. Every one of those is a repair rather than a replacement.

It depends on the age of the system and the scope of the repair. A minor repair on a relatively new furnace is worth doing. A major repair such as a heat exchanger on an aging system usually is not, because you are spending significant money on equipment that is near the end of its life anyway. We will walk through the numbers on your specific furnace before you commit to either path.
